Dangdut is a specialty of Indonesian music that has Malay, Arabic and Indian influence. It is a very popular genre in the Malay-speaking world. A dangdut band consists of a lead singer backed with Indonesian traditional and sometimes Western instruments such as tabla, flute, mandolin, guitar and synthesizers. Some ultra modern dangdut incorporates rock, hip-hop, R&B and other Western and Middle Eastern music.
